Shocking footage released by police shows a series of horrific crashes imminent after a string of motorists were convicted as part of a dangerous driving crackdown.
This heart-stopping dashcam video shows reckless drivers narrowly avoiding carnage on the streets of Northumbria.
One car can be seen suddenly breaking off along a double carriageway causing the truck to swerve out of the way.
Others are seen dangerously skipping the wrong side of the road as a motorist inexplicably stops in the middle of a busy road to change direction.
The video was released by Northumbria Police as part of the dashcam initiative project that won the Pride in Policeing Award.
The project involves members of the public sending footage they captured on their CCTV cameras and handing it over to the police.
It witnessed cases of speed, dangerous maneuvers and close confrontations, which were followed by force after being captured by the camera.

More than 7,200 incidents have been reported to the force since the project was launched in 2018.
More than 4,300 of these have resulted in fines, and 14 drivers have witnessed their licenses revoked and banned from the roads.
PCs Daryl Phillips and Mark Heavisides are the driving forces behind this scheme.
BC Phillips said: “By working with the public on our roads every day, we can take more action against those who put themselves and others at risk through their dangerous actions.
“I would like to thank the members of the audience who contributed to the success of the project – without submitting the footage, this simply wouldn’t work.

“Please keep sending your clips – you are really helping to make a difference.”
PC Heavisides added: “Not only does the initiative help keep communities safe by taking action against those who have improperly driven, it also helps deter people who are committing crimes in the first place because they know anyone can be watching.
“I urge everyone to take care of the roads and drive responsibly – the consequences of not doing so can be devastating.”

Constable President Winton Kenin added: “As times change and technology evolves, so must the way we conduct policing and the way we keep people safe.
This is a great example of how we are working alongside our communities to do this.
I would like to congratulate the Dashcam team and the audience who all contributed to the successful initiative we see today.
“As a force, we will continue to innovate and look for new ways of working in order to provide the best possible service to the communities we are honored to be a part of here in the Northeast.”
