In the week that ended December 11, omicron’s share of new infections in the United States rose to 2.9% from 0.4% in the previous week, the CDC previously reported.

But the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Tuesday it was revising some of the earlier numbers, after analyzing more samples. CDC officials said the new numbers indicate that about 13% of infections in the week of December 11 were omicron rather than 3%.
