Jacob Rees-Mogg announced today that MPs will take an additional day off during the upcoming Christmas holidays.

The House of Commons was expected to break the holiday period on 16 December before returning on 4 January.

But Mr Rees-Mogg revealed this morning that MPs will now not have to return to work in Westminster until 5 January.

Mr Rees-Mogg announced while delivering his weekly business statement to the House of Commons.

He told them, “Dignified and righteous members may also wish to know that in accordance with the progress of the works, he will return home from Christmas holidays on Wednesday January 5th.”

Then the minister went to the Council of Ministers to determine the vacations that the deputies will spend in the first half of next year.

“The House will lift the February holiday on Thursday, February 10, and return on Monday, February 21,” he said.

It will rise home for the Easter holiday on Thursday, March 31 and return on Tuesday, April 19.

It will rise home on Labor Day Bank Holiday on Thursday, April 28 and return on Tuesday, May 3.

The house will rise for the Whitsun holiday on Thursday, May 26 and return on June 6.

“Finally, the house will go up for summer vacation on Thursday, July 21.”

Mr Rees-Mogg did not say when the planned summer recess would end although MPs are expected to return for a term in September in line with previous years.
