Mercedes-AMG+ presents the EQS 53 4MATIC at the IAA Mobility Show in Munich, an AMG version of the luxury electric sedan found in the performance class of the Porsche Taycan Turbo S.
The AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ is the first battery electric car from AMG. Mercedes recently stated that it will be fully electric by 2030.
Mercedes’ performance company outfitted some SLS sports cars with four electric motors a few years ago. But she did not release it as a production model.
On the other hand, the EQS 53 4MATIC+ should handle two engines, and there are rumors of three as in the Audi e-tron quattro S or the Tesla Model S Plaid.
However, the performance of a system with two motors should suffice in most situations. In the basic version, it is 484 kW with a maximum torque of 950 Nm.
This should enable the AMG-EQS to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 220 km/h.
With the optional AMG Dynamic Plus package, up to 560 kW of power and 1,020 Nm of torque can be achieved in “race start” mode with the “boost function”.
Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 3.4 seconds, and the top speed is raised to 250 km/h.
According to AMG, both figures for acceleration can only be achieved when the battery is at least 80 percent charged.
In addition to the adaptive PSM units on the front and rear axles, AMG has also improved the inverter program to improve engine control.

The EQS 53 4MATIC+ contains the largest of the two batteries in the EQS, the one with 107.8 kW of usable power. The + sign leaves open the possibility that the AMG EQS with a smaller 90 kW battery could be offered in the future.
In terms of charging capacity, the AMG version is the same as the serial production model, and up to 200 kW can be saved on fast charging.
Electricity must be recharged for a distance of 300 km within 15 minutes. An 11 kW AC charger is available with a 22 kW capacity as an option.
Depending on the equipment and the AMG Dynamic Plus package, the base range is between 526 and 580 km – about 100 km less than the EQS 580 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
Even with the use of electricity, we ensure that our models based on the EVA2 Group platform keep the promise of our AMG brand, says the company.
“Our customers can look forward to a dynamic driving experience in this field,” he added. We guarantee this with AMG-specific solutions, particularly in the areas of drive, suspension, brakes and above all, audio.
Inside, you’ll find the Hyperscreen, which is made up of three screens built into a single piece of glass that stretches from edge to edge. It operates via MBUX with AMG TRACK PACE, the virtual race engineer, also available as an option.
