revealed Huawei announced its first 16-inch laptops with a 3:2 aspect ratio, which gives you more vertical screen space to work than the standard 16:9 screen.
The laptop was unveiled in China last May and is now on its way to Europe. AndThe MateBook 16 has an IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 2520 x 1680 pixels with a density of 189 pixels per inch.
The panel has a contrast ratio of 1500:1 and peak brightness of 300 nits (DC dimming is supported so no PWM).
It supports HDR, and covers 100 percent of the sRGB color gamut. Factory calibrated to average deltaE=1, it is a touchscreen with anti-fingerprint coating on the tempered glass.
You can choose from two Zen 3 APUs to power the laptop – the Ryzen 5 5600H and Ryzen 7 5800H with 6 and 8 cores respectively and the integrated Vega GPU with 7 CU and 8 CU respectively.
Two 75-millimeter cooling fans, two thicker heat pipes and a copper-alloy heat sink keep temperature under control.
The Ryzen APU is paired with 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a 512GB NVMe SSD.
The MateBook 16 is powered by an 84W battery, which is enough for 12.5 hours of local video playback. It comes with a 135W fast charger that takes 15 minutes to get enough battery power for 3.5 hours of office work.
This charger uses USB-C. So you can use it with Huawei smartphones that support SuperCharge as well. There are two USB-C ports on one side, connecting to a full-size HDMI port and a 3.5mm headphone and microphone combo jack.

Huawei brings the Matebook 16 to Europe
There are two USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports on the other side as well. The laptop features stereo speakers (2x2W) surrounding the keyboard as well as two built-in microphones if you don’t want to connect a wired one.
AI noise cancellation suppresses ambient noise and also prevents echoes during calls.
As for the keyboard, it lacks a number pad. Below it is a large touchpad with durable matte glass on top.
The entire laptop is 17.8 millimeters thick and weighs 1.99 kilograms. AndWireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6 (ax) and Bluetooth 5.1 support. And there’s a fingerprint reader built into the power button, so you can safely log into Windows without a password.
PC-Smartphone Collaboration allows you to connect your smartphone to your laptop and run up to three phone apps on your laptop screen.
You can use your keyboard and mouse to control it, including drag and drop to transfer files between devices and even edit documents stored on the phone.
Huawei MateBook 16 will soon be available in European markets. The Ryzen 5 5600H version costs 1,100 euros. The Ryzen 7 5800H version costs 1,200 euros.
