How to transfer contacts from one Android phone to another


In case you decide to upgrade your Android phone to a newer model or want to switch to another phone for any reason, the first step you need to do is to transfer the contacts from the current phone to the other phone.

In this article, we mention two ways to transfer contacts easily and quickly without having to use external applications.

Use a Google account to transfer contacts

Before removing your Google account and wiping data from your old phone, make sure that your data is synced to that phone. To do this, follow these steps:

  • Open the Settings app on your old Android phone.
  • Click on the Accounts option and then choose the Google account that includes the contacts.
  • On the screen that appears, click on the Sync Now option.
  • Sign in under the phone you want to switch to with the same Google account to automatically find all your addresses in the phone.

Use a VCARD file

If there is no internet connection you can export titles using a file vCard To do this, follow these steps:

  • Open the Contacts app on your phone.
  • Click on the three dots at the bottom left of the screen.
  • From the menu that appears, select the option to export and import.
  • Select the Export to Storage option and then tap on the Export option in the pop-up window to confirm the command.
  • Select Accounts or Account and press OK.
  • The file is saved in vcf format in the phone’s internal storage.

And in order to transfer the addresses to the new phone all you have to do is transfer the vcf you saved earlier via bluetooth, email or any of the messaging services. And then follow these steps:

  • Open the Contacts app on your phone.
  • Click on the three dots at the bottom left of the screen.
  • From the menu that appears, select the option to export and import.
  • Select the Import from Storage option.
  • In the pop-up that appears, select the vcf file that you transferred earlier to your new phone.
  • You will see a pop-up informing you of the progress of the transfer to your new phone and it will disappear automatically once it is finished.
