Steps to link the Apple Watch to the new iPhone

In the beginning, before any step, you need to make sure that you take a backup of your Apple Watch, so as not to lose its content.

You can do this by going to the Settings app and then General Settings, and choose Manage iPhone Space.

After that, click on the watch application under the list of applications on the phone, and you will find in front of you a list of all the available backup copies of the watch.

You can search for the latest backup you took from the watch, and the backups are not arranged in chronological order so you need to search for them manually.

After you confirm that the watch has a backup copy of the phone, uncouple the watch with the old phone.

And then link it with the new phone directly, so you can start using it and restore the backup in the phone.

The watch app backups are transferred from the old iPhone to the new iPhone while the apps backups are transferred via iCloud.

What to do if you can’t find a recent backup of the watch

The steps vary depending on the situation you are in. If you’ve previously unpaired the watch, you won’t be able to get a new backup.

And if you haven’t removed the watch, you can go to Manage App Backups and take a backup of the watch directly via the app.

You can also tie up the watch and prepare it for use like a brand new watch, although this is annoying and won’t do you any good.
