How to clear cache on iPhone

iPhone cache can help you launch apps and load websites faster. But over time it can build up, consuming storage space in your phone and reducing phone performance.

Clear Browser Cache on iPhone

Although the files in the cache are small in size, they accumulate over time, which affects the speed of the phone. It must be wiped from time to time. To do this, follow these steps:

  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  • Scroll down and tap on the Safari browser option.
  • On the screen that appears, scroll down and tap on the Clear History and Website Data option.
  • You get a pop-up warning that clearing the cache removes your browsing history, cookies, and other browsing data.
  • Click on the Clear History and Data option to confirm the command.

And if you want to clear data from individual websites without clearing the entire Safari cache, you can follow these steps:

  • On the previous screen, tap on the Advanced option.
  • Select the website data option whose cache you want to clear.

Clear apps cache

Clearing external apps cache varies from developer to developer. And some offer an option in the application preferences under the operating system settings iOS. While others do not offer such an option.

You should check your apps settings to see your options. For apps that do not provide the option to clear the cache, deleting and reinstalling the app is the best option.

To do this, follow these steps:

  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  • Click on the General option and then select the iPhone Storage option.
  • A comprehensive list of the applications on your phone appears.
  • Tap on the app whose cache you want to clear and then select the Offload app option.
  • A message appears telling you that the application is being deleted but its documents and data remain.
  • Click on the option to unload the application.
