Epic Games Store is taking a small step towards more competition with more established PC game stores like Steam next week via System An achievement called Epic Achievements.
To start, Epic Achievements is only available across a few games, including Rocket League, Hades, Pillars of Eternity, Kena, Zombie Army 4, and Alan Wake Remastered.
Achievements are divided into four levels: Bronze (awarded when you achieve between 45 and 50 XP), Silver (awarded when you achieve between 50 and 95 XP), Gold (awarded when you achieve between 100 and 200 XP) and Platinum (Awarded when 250 experience points are achieved).
Games that are updated to support Epic Achievements now display these achievements via the game’s store page, as well as players’ libraries, where they are able to track progress and see their progress toward a particular challenge.
Accumulating experience points at the moment does nothing, other than giving players a sense of pride and accomplishment. The company promises that it will be adding new social features and player rewards focused on achievements later this year.
The Epic Games Store has technically been a hit for more than a year when it started testing what the company called an early version of the feature. But the upcoming launch next week promises a more comprehensive system that includes games. This allows players to gain experience at the platform level, similar to the Gamerscore of the Xbox Store.
Legacy achievements remain in games as developer achievements at the developer’s discretion only. This is although developers have the option to transfer existing developer achievements via Epic Achievements if they wish.

Epic Games Store introduces achievement system
“We are pleased to announce that the initial rollout of the Epic Achievements system has begun,” the company said. Including a set of tools for developers to quickly and easily activate the platform’s achievements. This means that starting next week, you can start collecting experience points by earning Epic Achievements in select games.
She added: Over the past year, we worked closely with some of our development partners to revive the achievements system. We are working to get these tools to more developers. So you can expect Epic Achievements to appear in your favorite games later this year.
