Dan Watton: If you want to know why freedom is so important, see your loved ones this Christmas

The COVID 2022 battle lines have been drawn.

At stake: How to live our lives forever.

On the side of endless hysteria and constraints: duo Christopher Whitty and Patrick Vallance, the worst fortune teller in virus history, Neil Ferguson, Every Lost Soul of BBC News, The Unreasonable Cabinet Michael Gove and Sajid Javid, Robert Peston, Non-Opposition Leader Keir Starmer, Failed London Mayor Sadiq Khan, communists and anti-capitalists are everywhere.

On the side of learning to live with this damn virus once and for all: 100 (and the number is growing) Tory rebels, independent-minded scientists, and freedom fighters everywhere, including the small handful in the media who were brave enough to ask Related questions, Lord Frost, who became the first Warrior to resign from a senior position in the Cabinet due to the BS plan.

If Boris Johnson supports hysteria in Omicron for the next 48 hours – or anytime over the next few weeks – there will be dire consequences for his premiership.

I’ve been saying that for over a year, but the only way for the Prime Minister to save his job and allow us all to move on with our lives before 2020 – given that 95 percent of adults are positively blasting away with Covid antibodies – is by taking back control from the grim Covid brothers Whitty and Vallance. … Before it’s too late.

We allow ourselves to be strangled by overriding laws and the survival of our society as we once knew it is at stake.

Take the ten-day isolation rule that forces hundreds of thousands of us to remain confined, even after we have tested negative for Covid.

The absence of NHS staff doubled in a week.

Schools are expected to be in crisis until Easter, with pleas for retired teachers to join the supply force. Many are already closing.

Then there are supermarkets, restaurants, bars, shops, gyms, theaters and cinemas all forced to close due to the ten-day isolation period.

The simple solution is to halve it to a five-day isolation period immediately – or at least seven – and allow those who test negative to go back to their lives once.

This must be done now to avoid serious problems.

But this is just the beginning of what should be a fundamental reassessment of how we have learned to live with Covid.

We can’t even begin to do this until the rules are amended to acknowledge that it no longer kills so many people, but our disproportionate response to the virus is killing thousands of businesses and even more jobs.

People are no longer afraid of death, but are afraid of being locked up and disrupting their lives.

We need to be clear what living with Covid actually looks like.

If Boris Johnson hysterically supports the Omicron over the next 48 hours - or anytime over the next few weeks - there will be dire consequences for his premiership.

It would mean a huge shift in mindset because it should require the end of affinity testing and lateral streams to be released free in droves as well.

Covid needs treatment for what it is, just another treatment – not too dangerous – colds and flu.

Which is why I was so convinced of the need for drastic personnel changes at SAGE, beginning with Whitty and Vallance.

The current reckless advisors don’t just want to kill Christmas; They are happy to inflict fundamental damage on capitalism as well, with a perpetual cycle of restrictions.

The most effective way for Boris to make sure his cabinet and his supporters have listened, and that the UK will not be seen as a kind of “plague island” controlled by Covid, would be to dismiss Whitty and Vallance, and essentially reconstitute SAGE as soon as humanly possible.

Don’t believe the paranoid who walks among us and warns: You have to be like this.

There are plenty of places, from Florida to Sweden, that have proven throughout this pandemic to be a more liberal approach that doesn’t cripple lives and leads to a better mortality rate.

And there are many distinguished scholars – notably Oxford professors Sunetra Gupta and Karl Heneghan – who have promoted a different approach here in the UK.

It should be immediately included in official conversations on SAGE.

Whitty, Vallance, and Ferguson seem drunk from power, but also completely unaccountable.

We were told to hang out for three weeks to protect the NHS; We were told that the additional closures were a temporary measure to buy time for vaccine development; We were told 15 million hits with freedom.

We played our part as officials broke promise after promise.

And I don’t know about you but I’m done.

The Covid madness has exhausted them. It is sad to see how the constant threat of new restrictions has led many of my friends to collapse, turning into shadows of their former selves.

I’m sick and tired of not being able to look forward to anything; Planning becomes a reminder of disappointment when hampered by the inevitable threat of some crazy and unnecessary constraint.

Most of us were ready for a somewhat choppy life in 2020.

Sure, we’ve been living in an unprecedented global pandemic, albeit for a virus with a negligible infection-death rate for anyone other than the very old or the very sick.

But two years have passed since I saw my beloved parents, mother and sister living in New Zealand, with no certainty as to when or how I would be with them again.

This pain is unbearable.

I know most of you have similar stories and many of them are far worse than anything I can comprehend.

The unconscionable heartbreak of not being able to say goodbye to dying relatives, for example, when we know that those who have imposed such barbaric restrictions on us have been throwing party after party in the gardens and private quarters of No. 10 Downing Street.

The pain of canceling a wedding, a dream vacation, a school party, or a graduation party.

As for the virus as most of them have very few symptoms, but we can tell if we are carrying it or not with a simple test.

A fundamental rebalancing is now required – and that burden must fall on our shoulders.

In my last column in 2021, I ask you this: Enjoy Christmas without fear, no matter what the merchants and the usual tormentors tell us.

Be wise, for sure. Consider the needs of the vulnerable, just like any healthy human being.

But start by asking for your life back without fear and remembering how liberating the old normal feels.

Live normally to protect the mental health of all residents.

Live naturally to save the business from collapse.

We live normally because we are wise enough to follow the science ourselves and isolate whether and when we carry Covid.

Live normally now because if we continue down this miserable path, our so-called leaders will retain their powers and we will forget what was ever normal.

There’s a lot at stake this Christmas, but it’s a very simple solution.

Surround yourself with the people you love, then eat, drink, and yes, cuddle until your heart is satisfied – and remember the importance of freedom from the tyranny of meticulous government administration.
