Dan Walker shared the shocking moment when he smashed his head into a glass plate while training for Strictly Come Dancing.

The BBC Breakfast host, 44, has been left in need of a brain scan at A&E after he crashed into a turnstile at his hotel in September.

Dan revealed that the injury almost caused him to precisely quit before the series began, but thankfully he cleared to return to training after a three-day break.

The footage showed Dan running quickly towards the turnstile after realizing he had left his wallet in the taxi outside, then bounced against the glass and fell straight to the ground.

He shared the snaps on Instagram on Monday where he explained: “I have some great memories from #Strictly but I will never forget that it was almost over before it even started!

This was the incident that led to a brain scan back in September! The staff at the hotel and A&E were great and I was ok to get back to training after a 3 day break.

“I had left my wallet in the taxi but completely ignored the huge glass panel on the road as I ran outside before the car drove off.”

Dan continued detailing his injuries, saying: “There was an instant cardboard bump and blood as my teeth ripped out my lip but thankfully it wasn’t as serious as it looked. I did the scan and was told to rest.

Praising his dance partner, he added, “NadiyaBychkova was beautiful and came with me to A&E but I had to hide in the parking lot for hours because we were not announced at the launch show at this point.

He looks like a long time ago and can laugh now. Thanks NHS.

“A bit of head-based drama today! After I slammed my nap on the large glass window yesterday, I was sent to A&E today because I was feeling a little wobbly,” he wrote.

A lovely nurse at Barnet Hospital named Karina checked my vital signs and my 6-foot-9 counselor Eric Witt gave me a CT scan to check for bleeding in the brain. Thank God…everything is fine.

I have to rest for a few days – so I’ll be a little late – but I’m ready to dig again next week.

“A timely reminder of how great the NHS is, and while I’m not allowed to tell you who my stern supporter is… I can tell you she waited for hours in the car park to make sure I was okay.

“Whatever happens on TV…she has a friend for life.”

Dan also took to his Instagram Stories to share the unfortunate incident with his fans and said, “Things I learned yesterday…don’t crash into glass doors or get a lump in your head.”
