Copy texts from photos in Android phone


Android smartphones allow you the ability to copy text from an image via an app google lens and paste it anywhere.

The company has integrated the application into its other applications, such as the Google Photos application and the search engine to facilitate copying the writing in images easily.

Copy text and numbers from photos in Android

You have two options to copy text from photos either from a photo previously stored in your phone, or take a picture with your phone’s camera of the text you want to copy. To do this, follow these steps:

  • Open the Google app and tap the camera icon on the right side of the search bar.
  • On the next screen, take a new photo by clicking on the “Search using camera” option.
  • The camera opens with a horizontal list of camera modes.
  • Select the Place text option at the bottom of the screen. Then point the phone’s camera at the text you actually see.
  • Press the shoot button on the screen and then click on the option to select all on the next screen.
  • Use the selection tool to select the text you want.
  • Once done, tap on the Copy Text option.
  • You can now paste your chosen text anywhere.

And if you have an image in your Android phone that contains text that you want to copy, follow these steps:

  • Open the Google app and tap the camera icon on the right side of the search bar.
  • Select the image from which you want to copy the text below.
  • Once the image is selected, Google Lens processes the text in the image.
  • After the processing is finished, you will see three options below the image. They are copy text, select text and translate. Selecting the Copy Text option allows you to copy all the text that Google Lens can select to the clipboard. The copied text is also displayed in the lower pop-up window.
  • While the Select Text option allows you to manually select the text you want. And the translation option allows you to translate any texts in the image.

It is worth noting that the Google Lens service is now available in the web version of the Google Photos application, and at the moment allows you to copy texts from an image only through optical character recognition technology.

When you go to Google Photos on your desktop and open an image that contains text, a “copy text from image” suggestion appears with the Google Lens logo in the upper left corner.
