He was in the intensive care unit and was intubated after being exposed to the “oxygen” hazard.

Confirming his death on Twitter, the group said: “With heavy hearts we inform you of the passing of our friend and partner Carlos Marin.

He will be missed by his friends, family and fans. There will never be another voice or soul like Carlos.

For 17 years, the four of us have been on this amazing journey of Il Divo together, and we will miss our dear friend.

We hope and pray that his beautiful soul rests in peace. With love – David, Sebastian and Urs.

Il Divo was created by Simon Cowell after he decided to form a multinational quartet of classical singers inspired by the opera group The Three Tenors, which included Pavarotti.

Before his death today, Il Divo said they ‘hope and pray’ for Marín after the group had to cancel their UK tour.

“His ex-wife Geraldine Larosa is with him in the hospital because even though they separated 12 years ago, they are still good friends,” his agent said.

The couple was scheduled to perform together on TVE1 on New Year’s Eve.

French-born singer Geraldine Larosa, better known by her stage name Innocence, recorded a cover of Bohemian Rhapsody with Marine to be broadcast during a special on Spanish TV.

Upon announcing the suspension of their tour, Il Divo tweeted: “Unfortunately, due to illness, the remaining dates for the December 2021 UK tour Il Divo have been pushed back until December 2022.

Il Divo deeply regrets his fans, but we look forward to getting back on the road in the New Year and seeing you all in the lead-up to next Christmas.

Last month, a 72-year-old woman from Barcelona was found under duress and fined 60 euros for sending explicit and threatening letters to Mr. Marin.

The woman – who goes by the name Rosa only – obtained a six-month restraining order preventing her from coming within 500 meters of Mr. Marine.

The Olive Press reported that his attorney filed an appeal against the leniency of the sentence, stating that he had to change his “work and life habits.”
