Bloodthirsty British hunters kill reindeer on a pre-Christmas shooting trip in Iceland.

An Icelandic safari worth £2,000 was organized by Ian Farrington, a deer huntsman from Devon.

He posted horrific photos online of a butchered reindeer and boasted on a poachers forum: “We came back from another trip to Iceland with 100 percent success – all poachers take reindeer on the first day of their hunt.”

Mr Farrington, 59, said last month’s trip “brought our results to 12 hunts, with all hunters taking their monster during the first day”.

Pictures from a previous hunt last year showed carcasses and antlers lying on the ground after British hunters shot them.

Another photo showed at least three dead reindeer strapped to the back of a bloodied vehicle after being chased into the rocky plains of Iceland’s eastern fjords.

Critics say reindeer hunting is a cruel blood sport, but its proponents claim it is essential to keep their numbers low. The Icelandic government allows 1,800 reindeer to be culled annually.

Farrington has announced prices for another three-day trip to Iceland next year. It would cost hunters £2,165 to kill a reindeer or £1,890 to kill a reindeer.

He is well known in bounty fishing circles, and has organized catches all over the world through his company, Farrington Deer Services.

The British government recently announced new legislation that prohibits poachers from returning trophies that have killed them.

This is due to include elk trophies – much to Farrington’s disdain.

On the Stalking Directory forum, he wrote: “The latest invoice from our site gracious.gov [government] It is proposed to ban the import of reindeer memorabilia – a concern if you want to bring the trophies back to the UK.

Eduardo Goncalves, founder of the Cup Hunting Ban Campaign, said: “Ian Farrington is literally doing murder by selling pesky holidays where you can shoot reindeer for ‘sport’, an arrogant self-portrait, and a sick souvenir.

“Reindeer are increasingly endangered. Scientists say hunting is one of the threats driving reindeer towards extinction.

“I prefer not to discuss,” said Mr Farrington, who approached The Mail on Sunday.
