The film’s first production trip took place in 2016, followed by visits in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Over 50,000 images captured sequentially from the hits were turned into video files, edited, and combined into film with music.

“It was definitely a tough video for me,” Michael said, but it was a labor of love.

The photographer, who hails from San Francisco, said: ‘Every time I go to New York to take photos or shoot a video, it’s always been a great experience. Not only the shooting part but also wandering around the city eating delicious food and getting to know the local photographers.

“Visually and pictorially, what I love most about New York is…I find the architecture absolutely wonderful. The Chrysler Building is one of my favorite buildings in the world. I think the building is absolutely gorgeous.”

It is one of my favorite cities in the world. I’ve been to quite a few megacities and there’s just something I love about the energy of New York. I knew I wanted to take multiple trips there to start working on my own film showing the beauty of the city and the different looks the city could give you.

The video, which has so far garnered more than 1.6 million views on YouTube, takes us on a dazzling tour of the Big Apple, from skyscrapers shimmering at night, to the bustling lobby of the Grand Central Terminal, the unique Times Square and to the memory of September 11 in New Jersey. , which is Michael’s favorite part of the video.

‘Initially, I was going to commemorate 9/11 in New York,’ said the 28-year-old, but was fired every time I tried to photograph it and set up my own time-lapse slider. But that was really a moment that I wanted to include in the movie. And there was that perfect part of the song, where the song slows down, gets a little softer, and I knew in that moment I wanted to pay homage to 9/11. And I wanted to be in one of the memorials.

I was so upset when I couldn’t do that in New York City, where the Twin Towers already existed. But a friend of mine said, “Hey there’s a monument in New Jersey, it’s beautiful, it has these amazing walls just with all the names written on the walls, and you can see the one world trade in the background.” And I said, “Well, that would be a great addition to the movie.”

Michael said he wanted to “show the beauty of the city and the different looks the city can give you.”

So, it starts as you move across the wall looking at the names and it moves and shows the One World Trade Center. I really wanted to make sure that moment works out well in the video and I’m really happy with the way this part turned out.

What does Michael hope viewers get from watching his movie?

He said: ‘If someone hasn’t had the chance to visit New York yet, maybe this is a video that inspires them to go there. They can see the beauty of the place and the energy that New York has to offer and maybe inspire them to go. Or someone who has a fond memory of or may have visited New York, or a local who really appreciates where they live, I hope this video does a little justice.
