  • Marcus Renard Hubbard was captured on home surveillance footage allegedly trying to steal a lawn mower from a home in Port Arthur, Texas on April 1
  • He was seen casually strolling onto the property and filling the mower’s tank before moving both the front and backyards 
  • Once police arrived, he reportedly took off running, ‘dragging the lawnmower with him’ at about 8pm
  • He abandoned the mower in an alley and remains at large for burglary which is a felony in Texas and comes with up to 20 years in prison
  • ‘I’d like to give this suspect my address please…’ said one commentator online after seeing footage of the bizarre incident

A Texas homeowner was in for quite the surprise when they found a thief mowing the lawn before taking off with the mower. 

The Port Arthur Police Department received a complaint on April 1 about an ‘unknown person cutting grass’ on an unidentified homeowner’s property. 

Home surveillance footage shows Marcus Renard Hubbard causally strolling onto the property’s backyard at 8pm wearing a black hoodie, jeans, and light-colored shoes. 

The alleged thief appears to enter a garage off-camera, where he removes a bike, a lawnmower, and a gas tank.

Hubbard does not enter the furnished area of the home despite the back patio door appearing wide open.

He then fills the red mower with gas and proceeds to mow the front and backyards. 

Hubbard can be seen moving along the white picket fence, making three straight lines before the footage cuts off. 

Hubbard took off running, ‘dragging the lawnmower with him’, when police arrived and found him mowing the law. 

He later abandoned the mower in an alley and remains at large. 

Hubbard is now wanted by the Port Arthur police for burglary a building – a felony charge in Texas..

He faces fines up to $10,000 fine and up to 20 years in prison if found guilty.

Anyone with information about the incident are asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1-800-222-TIPS in exchange for a cash reward. 

Commenters had a hay day with the video, with some asking if it was an April’s Fools joke, while others just said they were confused. 

‘Aww, maybe he’s just paying back for stealing,’ one person wrote. 

Another said: ‘I’d like to give this suspect my address please…’
