The popular messaging application WhatsApp, owned by Facebook, comes with many features that facilitate communication between people.

Here are some of the most prominent features and tricks that you can activate in the app to improve your privacy and get the most out of it.

Activate the hidden messages feature

The hidden messages feature of WhatsApp allows you to maintain your privacy. This is done by automatically deleting messages in conversations after seven days.

AndAny user can turn on the feature in individual chats, while group admins can turn on the feature in group chats.

To do this, follow these steps:

  • Log into any one-on-one chat and then tap on the three dots on the top right.
  • From the menu that appears, select the option to view the contact.
  • Scroll down and select the Hidden messages option.
  • On the screen that appears, select the Activate option.
  • Go back to the chat again to see a message that the feature has been activated.

Enabling the feature will not delete old messages. It will only affect new messages whether you activate it or any other party you communicate with.
