Since the beginning of this year, the popular photo-sharing platform, Instagram, has provided many features to improve the use experience, maintain its users, and face intense competition from other applications such as Tik Tok and Snapchat.
Highlights of the new Instagram features
Turn off liking posts
The platform gave everyone the option to stop liking the posts you make on your account. This is to reduce pressure on users’ experience, particularly teenagers, who may be affected greatly when posts do not receive likes.
This feature allows you to disable all likes across your posts. And hide the number of likes and views from all posts on your profile.
To do this, follow these steps:
- Open the Instagram app on your phone, then log into your account.
- On the main screen, tap the black lines in the top right.
- From the menu, select the Settings option and then click on the Privacy option.
- Select the Posts option.
- On the screen that appears, toggle the button next to the option Hide Likes and Show Count to the off position.

Turn off audio and video
The platform gives you the option to mute the audio and pause the video during Instagram Live sessions. This feature was provided by the platform to reduce the pressure of direct interaction with the masses. It also provides independence in what other users hear and see in the live session.
Share videos with others
The platform’s Remix Reels feature allows you to record a video and combine it with another user’s previously posted clip. This feature is intended to create ways to collaborate with other content creators and expand your reach across the platform.

Instagram and Facebook integration

In addition, you can also video chat or re-share whether you are using Facebook or Instagram. Which is useful if you spend more time in one app while your friends are in the other.
