Selena Gomez apologizes after being accused of mocking Hailey Bieber: ‘I really am sorry’

Selena Gomez has apologized after fans accused her of mocking her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber’s wife Hailey Bieber on TikTok earlier this week.

After raising eyebrows by posting a silent skincare tutorial, similar to the ones regularly shared by the 25-year-old supermodel, the singer, 29, made it clear she was not mocking Hailey in any way.

‘This is why I believe in taking care of your mental health. Guys no idea what I did but I really am sorry. Zero bad intention,’ the Rare Beauty founder commented on her TikTok, before disabling comments.

Beliebers were quick to attack the Lose You To Love Me hitmaker for sharing footage of her skincare routine, in which she lip synched to Fleetwood Mac’ Dreams (2004 Remaster).

Despite making no mention of Hailey, some viewers from the clip ‘shady’ because the Only Murders In The Building actress rolled her eyes.

‘It’s giving I’m a performative loser who blatantly gets away with bullying other women,’ one troll commented, while another pointed out ‘the way she twisted her eyes in every step.’

In 2019, Gomez pleaded with her fans to ‘stop tearing other women down’ following the release of her emotional breakup ballad Lose You To Love Me.

On the track, the musician – who dated Justin on and off from 2010 until 2017, when he got back together with his now-wife Hailey – sings about being ‘replaced’ within just two months.

Despite any heartache over the pair’s rekindling, the Grammy nominee passionately defended the model from a sea of online hate.

The situation was made worse for Hailey when she revealed she was listening to a song titled I’ll Kill You, which Selena’s superfans took to be a direct response to the song.

Speaking directly into the camera, Selena said: ‘I am so grateful for the response this song is getting. However, I do not stand for women tearing women down. And I will never, ever be by that.

‘So please be kind to everyone. It doesn’t matter what the situation is, if you’re my fans don’t be rude to anyone, please.’

She continued: ‘Don’t go off and say things that you just feel in the moment. Just please, for me, know that that’s not my heart and my heart is only to release things I feel that are me and that I’m proud of. And that’s all that I’ll say.’

Lose You To Love Me appears to be about her failed relationship with Justin with the lyrics explicitly referencing the short amount of time it took for him to move on from her to Hailey.

Two months after rekindling in May 2018, Hailey and Justin got engaged on July 7, 2018.

Last year during an interview with GQ, Justin admitted their ‘first year of marriage was really tough.’

The Sorry singer said the initial difficulties in their marriage stemmed from ‘trauma’ and ‘just lack of trust.’

In the new interview, Justin said that he always felt ‘compelled’ to get married.

He explained: ‘I just felt like that was my calling. Just to get married and have babies and do that whole thing.’

Justin confessed during the first year of marriage he was ‘on eggshells,’ but then eventually started to believe, he told the outlet.

Now, with a few years of marriage under their belts, he said: ‘We’re just creating these moments for us as a couple, as a family, that we’re building these memories.’
